Introducing Threads: A New Way to Share With Text

There’s a new social media app in town: Instagram Threads.

Owned and operated by Meta, the platform is very similar to Twitter.

And following in the steps of other popular tech apps, Threads is stirring up conversations amongst social marketers, creators, and business owners.

What is the Instagram Threads app?

According to Instagram, “Threads is a new app, built by the Instagram team, for sharing text updates and joining public conversations.”

They go on to explain it “takes the best parts of the Instagram experience and creates a whole new app around text, ideas, and sharing what’s on your mind.” 

Instagram’s CEO Adam Mosseri, says they’re integrating safety features like hidden words, restrict, and community guidelines — emphasizing they want Threads to be “friendly and open.”

Who Can Access Instagram Threads? 

Instagram has said they plan on rolling the app out in more than 100 countries for iOS and Android.

How Does Instagram Threads Work?

Similar to Twitter, Instagram Threads lets you share text-based content — with the option to include links, photos, and videos.

  • Links, photos, and videos (up to five minutes in length) can be included in posts
  • You can have a public or private Threads account
